I’m way behind on posting my runs! I will get you up to date on what’s happening.\u00a0 I have made it halfway through my training for Chicago,\u00a0 but the back half will be more difficult.\u00a0 Unfortunately things have not been good lately.<\/p>\n
I finished July with 112 miles run, and while that is not a crazy amount,\u00a0 it is the most I’ve ever run in a month. Things were going great! No knee pain or any ailments to really speak…..smooth sailing!<\/p>\n
Then August came…..I started August with a week at the beach. I ran with the crazy local runners that do 50, 100 miler races like they’re routine runs! I needed 16 that day, and it went really well. I had some muscle tightness but other than that,\u00a0 all was good. The next day,\u00a0 no soreness even! I ran 3 more times that week and everything felt good!<\/p>\n
Then this past Sunday came, and I was supposed to run 18 miles. I’ve only done 18 miles once before and it is the longest distance I’ve ever run to date.<\/p>\n
I was meeting a friend that was going to run 10 of the 18 with me. I got a late start on the 8 before she came, and sped up my pace to finish and meet her in time.\u00a0 That was probably a mistake.<\/p>\n
During the 8 mile run,\u00a0 my ankle started to hurt in the place it had hurt before.\u00a0 That never went away in my run but never got worse….8…..done. A few miles into the 10 mile portion,\u00a0 I felt like my knee was feeling very slightly achy. Eventually I had to walk about 3 miles.<\/p>\n
