The anticipation is building for the Marine Corps Marathon in October. I am now in the high intensity months where there are lots of runs and longer distances to cover. This is only the second marathon I have ever done, so I am still not that used to distances 15 miles and over. This time last year, I was training for the Chicago Marathon, and I was dealing with a
Four Entrepreneurs That Inspired Me
If you are new to startups or exploring the possibility of a startup, here are four sntrepreneurs you should be following. I know some of you already know of them, but I did not know any of them two years ago. Of course this is in addition to some well known entrepreneurs such as Mark Cuban and Sir Richard Branson, that you should already be following. Jason Calacanis – Jason
Don’t Take The Rental Unless You Absolutely Have To
Coming home a few weeks ago, a deer ran out in front of my car, and I could not avoid hitting it. There was significant damage to the car, yet I managed to drive it home. I did all the insurance yada yada, and they asked me if I needed a rental car. First I said no. I have an old pickup truck that I can use to get
3 months of MCM Training Left
One month of training has passed already! Still in the easy stages, but each week is progressing towards more weekly miles and soon I will be in the heart of the training. August is filled with lots of long runs, and it is a hot month. But so far I am running well and not feeling injured. Hopefully it will stay that way. I will be running some days at
Week 3 Training Wrap Up
Most of week 3 continued in the high elevations in North Carolina. After week 2’s 9 mile long run with steep hills, I started week 3 with two very sore calf muscles. After much debate whether to run Tuesday (3 miles scheduled) or wait until Wed (6 miles), I decided to stretch a lot on Monday and try to run Tuesday. Tuesday’s run got better as I ran and Wednesday
MCM Training Week 2 Report
Week 2 went great, ending with a 9 mile run for the week. There are no injuries to report. In general the pace for the entire week was a bit slow, but that is fine for this stage of training. Right now the important key is being injury free. I’m very pleased with the first 2 weeks of training. I want to talk some about the 9 mile run.
MCM Training Week 1 Wrap Up
After two weeks of no running to rest a sore Achilles (or at least soreness in that area), I began with a 4 mile run and 6 miles the next day. Both runs went well. Then I did 4 miles and 7 for a total of 21 miles for the week. Not a bad Week 1. I did have calf soreness, and I’m using the foam roller, which seems to
Trials of Startups – Funding
Here’s my take on investor funding: We are not actively seeking it presently, but if we are approached by investors, we are definitely open to investments. Could we have moved faster with an investment? Absolutely. Did having no funding slow us down? Yes. Did having no investors stop us? Not at all. It has taken us longer, and we are not able to hire any employees full time, but
Marine Corps Marathon Training Starts Soon.
As I begin training for the Marine Corps Marathon, I will post about how well the training is going. Week 1 will begin the week of July 5th. For the past 14 days, I have not run at all due to pain in the Achilles region, which is something new I have not experienced before. Knowing that my training for the next 16 weeks will be rigorous, I decided
Review: Alexandria Running Festival and My Performance.
I started this year with a great race in March ,and despite a foot injury, I still managed to get my 2nd fastest race time at Shamrock. In preparing for Alexandria, I felt like I’ve been doing some of my best running this training cycle, with no injuries to speak of. So going into this race, I was feeling very confident….okay maybe a bit overconfident. The Alexandria Running Festival is
