The Altra’s are great shoes, but my calf muscles were sore alot, and I kept wondering if I would be able to train in these shoes in the short term because of the days I needed off from running. So I looked for another pair of running shoes that I could wear to help me transition to the Altra’s.
Newton Distance III seemed to fit the bill of what I was looking for. They have a 2 mm drop abs are very light weight ( Update: 2mm is practically 0mm. In hind’s site, I should have purchased something at least in the 4-6mm range).
In my next post, I’ll report on how it’s going wearing these shoes so far. I’ve gotten a little behind in my updates but catching up.
Update: Personally, I do not like these shoes much. I always had problems in my arch or ankle, and there is a transition period to become comfortable in them, which maybe I did not give enough time for. However, I needed something I can wear now, not in 3-6 months. The POP1 lugs, with only 4 lugs, made it seem like I was sometimes imbalanced. Score: 7/10.
I have heard some good things about these shoes. are the newton distance III’s the ones that have the 5 prongs now to increase lateral stability?
They have 4 lugs, but I think the latest ones have 5 lugs.
