I Would Probably Blog More If I Knew People Were Reading it! Random ramblings…

So that title is just an excuse I have been using to dismiss blogging. If no one reads them, then I guess it is basically my personal journal. But that’s important too – documenting the stories that are happening is a good thing. So this post will be a bunch of random thoughts and updates. I am typing as I go…no planned intentions of what to write!! Here goes.

I purchased my first llama in 2000, and started the llama operation in 2001. We are coming up on 19 years involved with llamas, and it has been an amazing adventure! But, I definitely see this chapter ending in the next few years. It is partly burnout – the care they need, the injections to protect from meningeal worm, the manure and barn cleanups, and the upkeep of the farm (fences always need repairs!) have taken their toll on me (at one point I had 32 llamas on the farm), and I have found that my interests keep evolving. We are only on Earth a short period of time, and I am glad that I spent some of that time messing around with these goofy looking anatomically odd spitting creatures. I met amazing people and got to be on Animal Planet because of these llamas. The herd is currently down to 8 llamas.

Burnt Mountain's McMurray

McMurray, the most exotic llama ever born on our farm.

As I mentioned, interests change. I found myself signing up for karate when I didn’t intend to. My kids were signing up, when the teacher said the rest of the family is free after paying for two members – “Do you want to sign up too?” Hmm, okay, why not? Two years later, the kids have dropped out, and I am a little more than a year away from a black belt. Karate has been one of the best things I’ve done! It’s fun to learn, and I always like to challenge myself. I also don’t like to start things and not finish them. Stopping short of a black belt I would consider disastrous!

I hate weeds, especially poison ivy, which was sneakily growing within a small pine tree near my house. Spraying didn’t seem to phase it, so I decided to find where in the ground it was growing. It was very close to the small tree’s trunk – tricky. But I eventually got it out of the ground – problem solved.

Weezer’s version of Toto’s “Africa” is a great rendition. There’s a song I was not big on in the 80’s, but now I do consider it one of the best written songs of all time. Alot of people agree – just check out the number of times the video was viewed on You Tube.

Speaking of You Tube, I saw a video of a guy in the U.S. 109 years old. I found out he just died in December 2018 at age 112! His name is Richard Overton – check out his story on You Tube.

My hair had gotten pretty long. It has been growing (minus some trims) since 2016 – almost 3 years! But it is curly, so the length seems shorter than it really is. I think eventually I will go back to short hair, but I cannot say when that will happen, since I still like my hair long.

I have mentioned before a company I have – LivestockCity. I sometimes blog stories related to startups and companies. By the end of the year, I might be running two more startups (with help from others!)…yeah, I know…stick to one. But I am stubborn, and I am going to create three, then find the help I need.

Reminds me, and I will end on this – I hire a lot of interns to work on my projects, and I am developing this knack for detecting subtle changes in engagement with interns where I know either they will quit soon, or I should remove them. I keep being right about my signal detection- I guess it’s my intuition.

By far, my most odd blog. So maybe this is the blog that gets me back in it!
