Just as I was thinking Altra’s and Newtons are the best shoes ever and my knee issues seem to be diminishing, a new problem surfaces.
The weekend after my trail 5K, I ran 7 miles in the Newtons. It was really even a jump in miles, but my left arch bothered me on this run. I missed next two weeks running for other reasons, and I resumed on May 25th when I ran 6 miles. This run was ok, but as soon as I stopped, I had lots of pain in my left foot. It was painful to walk. This seemed to come out of nowhere. I did not even hurt while running.
I took a couple days off and then ran a couple 3 milers that week, both still with the ankle pain. On June 1, I ran 7.5 miles. My ankle hurt right from the beginning, then slowly went away or was drastically less painful. But once I stopped, the pain came back, just like the other runs.
Since then I ran 3 miles in my Nikes, my old shoes, with similar results. I have taken 4 days off, iced, and taken Advil. I can tell it would still hurt to run on.
If you have had a similar injury as this, please comment about it below. Thanks. I will update you all soon.
