I’m way behind on posting my runs! I will get you up to date on what’s happening. I have made it halfway through my training for Chicago, but the back half will be more difficult. Unfortunately things have not been good lately.
I finished July with 112 miles run, and while that is not a crazy amount, it is the most I’ve ever run in a month. Things were going great! No knee pain or any ailments to really speak…..smooth sailing!
Then August came…..I started August with a week at the beach. I ran with the crazy local runners that do 50, 100 miler races like they’re routine runs! I needed 16 that day, and it went really well. I had some muscle tightness but other than that, all was good. The next day, no soreness even! I ran 3 more times that week and everything felt good!
Then this past Sunday came, and I was supposed to run 18 miles. I’ve only done 18 miles once before and it is the longest distance I’ve ever run to date.
I was meeting a friend that was going to run 10 of the 18 with me. I got a late start on the 8 before she came, and sped up my pace to finish and meet her in time. That was probably a mistake.
During the 8 mile run, my ankle started to hurt in the place it had hurt before. That never went away in my run but never got worse….8…..done. A few miles into the 10 mile portion, I felt like my knee was feeling very slightly achy. Eventually I had to walk about 3 miles.
