I did it! The positive result of endless perseverance and determination finally came as I crossed the finish line at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. It has been quite a journey to reach this summit. My story follows.
In 2013, I was going full force, running about 750 miles total for the year – more than double what I did in 2012. I had completed 3 half marathons, all under 2 hours.
I’m January 2014, I ran 97 miles that month, the most I’ve ever done in a month. But in the beginning of February, injury struck and long story short, I was out for 7 weeks with a knee injury. You can go back to my posts in March about my recovery process and how to I made it to Chicago. My entire journey is posted to help others, as well as for my own use.
Today I feel great! In fact, 8 days after Chicago, I ran 2 miles with a 8:45 mile pace and felt awesome. Good thing, because I have another half marathon coming up – Philadelphia in November. I cannot wait! That will be it for this year – 2 halfs, 1 marathon, all big cities!
I highly recommend Chicago Marathon. Maybe I’ll write a review soon. (Update: Chicago is definitely one of the best, if not the best, race I’ve ever ran. The entire event operates smoothly. The Expo, course, after party, etc. is all well done. Rating:5/5 stars
