Newest Offering on Dande – Services Wanted (Beta)

Dande (formerly called “Wishmay”) started as a site for people to post things they want to buy, in hopes that other viewers might possess these things and be willing to sell to the party that wants to buy.  It is basically “buying in reverse.”  To date there have been things posted every now and then, but we have not hit crazy traffic volumes by any means.  Not to worry though, these things can take time to solidify.

Service request example

Whether or not you’ve heard of Dande (or Wishmay as we were once known – see why-we-changed-our-e-commerce-name-from-wishmay-to-dande/) before, I wanted to talk about another service we added that is in “beta” (so it’s free for everyone right now) that aligns with the same theme as the items wanted.   The new addition is for “services wanted.”  We all need service providers, but sometimes service providers are too booked.   Sometimes we don’t know where to turn to find the service provider, and sometimes it can be time consuming to find one.   So why not let the service providers come to you?  If service providers are available or maybe they are just starting out and having trouble getting customers or clients, then Dande is for both the user and the service provider.

There are categories for the different types of services one might need.  Some of the categories are accounting/bookkeeping, computer repair, home improvement, marketing, legal assistance, web design/logo/coding and more.   The way it works is a user will post their service request with details on what they need.  While in beta testing, the service providers can respond to the wanted requests for free.  When this part is out of beta, the service provider will have a couple low cost choices: 1) Subscribe monthly to respond to an unlimited amount of service requests (cancel anytime) or 2) Pay per response to a service request.  Here’s the best part for service providers:  no commissionFor those overseas, especially coding developers, we plan to make this available to you eventually. Unlike some competitors, we will not take a percentage of the price.   So the only cost to service providers is the subscription, which will be somewhere around $10/month.   What about the users requesting the service? For them, it is totally free always.

We used this business model because we felt like we had to.  For example, if we took commission from the seller, and they hired a dry wall installer off the site, we realized they likely won’t come back to the site to finalize a deal.  Secondly, we wanted to allow service providers to keep more of their earnings and this allows it.

But one thing I have learned after making several sites (like LivestockCity and Efizza), is that it is hard to get your site in front of people or to use it beyond just landing on it.  This is true especially when just starting out.   So if you wouldn’t mind, I have a small favor to ask.  Will you post one item you want to buy and one service that you need on Dande? It would really help us out.   www.godande.com.
