Week 2 went great, ending with a 9 mile run for the week. There are no injuries to report. In general the pace for the entire week was a bit slow, but that is fine for this stage of training. Right now the important key is being injury free. I’m very pleased with the first 2 weeks of training.
I want to talk some about the 9 mile run. I was running in the Smokey Mountains in Waynesville, NC. This course was so hilly and steep that I had to walk a bit of mile 9, and I am really used to hills that I run routinely in the Shenandoah Valley. On top of this, I made a wrong turn and went the wrong way uphill, needing a ride to the correct hill and back to the lodge. But it was still a great training run! Imagine training on these hills all the time.
